Registration for the 2017-18 school year will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. & Thursday, Aug. 10 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at CHS

  • Public Notice - Sale of 400 E. Green Street, Centerville, IA

    PUBLIC NOTICE

     

     

         The Centerville Community School District Board of Directors invites public offers to purchase District owned real property consisting of the former site of the Appanoose County High School Campus, 400 East Greene St., Centerville, IA. A legal description may be obtained upon request.

     

         The terms of sale are cash or cashier’s check and must include a reasonable earnest money payment with the entire balance due at closing and also shall include the following.  Prospective purchasers are required to utilize a purchase agreement form for their bid and, if their bid is accepted, sign an “acceptance and release” form accepting the property “as is” and releasing the District from potential claims regarding the condition of the property, both of which are available in the Superintendent’s office at the address noted below.  Transfer will be by quit claim deed. Any prospective sale is subject to completion of statutory hearing and other sale procedures. 

     

         To view the property, please contact Tim Kaster at telephone 641-856-0670.  Offers must be submitted at the Centerville CSD School Business Office, 634 N. Main St., Centerville, IA 52544 by noon on Thursday, the 6th day of July, 2017.   Submitted bids must remain valid for forty days from date of submission.  Appraised value of the Greene Street property is $65,000.

     

    The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any conditions of sale, to negotiate further with any bidder or bidders and to sell to the bidder it deems in the best interest of the District which may not be the highest financial bid.   The Bidder must submit a detailed written description along with its bid detailing its proposed use for the property in light of City zoning. (Local realtors are encouraged to submit bids on behalf of interested persons and if the District awards the bid to a bidder represented by a Realtor, the District will pay a commission of 3% of the purchase price to the Realtor). The School Board plans to attempt to choose the bid and bidder which it wishes to work with toward potential sale at a Board meeting to be held July 10, 2017 or within thirty days thereafter.
